A retreat that moves with the tide

Most retreats ask you to stay put. This one does not. The Phinisi repositions overnight, so the bay you practise in at sunrise is rarely the one you fell asleep in — and the day's diving, trekking and sound work all happen within a few hundred metres of the deck.

Groups are capped at twelve. That is small enough for the facilitators to build the week around the people actually on board, and small enough that nobody spends their morning waiting for a tender.

Komodo National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980 and a marine protected area since 1991. The reefs are the reason the diving is what it is, and the reason the schedule bends around the tides rather than the other way round.

Wellness and diving, on the same boat

Retreats usually make you choose. A dive boat has no space to practise; a wellness resort is an hour from the reef. Living aboard is the compromise neither one has to make.

The practice

  • Twice-daily sessions

Sunrise on the deck, late afternoon on a beach.

  • Twelve people at most

Small enough to teach the room, not an average.

  • No signal, by geography

The park has almost no coverage. Nothing to switch off.

Both, in one week

The water

  • PADI dive team aboard

Serviced gear in every size, own compressor.

  • 1,000+ fish species

And 260 corals, inside a protected marine park.

  • Moored at the site

Batu Bolong, Manta Point and Castle Rock on the tide.

Daily practice

Four disciplines, led by people who teach them for a living

Sessions run twice a day, on deck or on a beach, and are set to whoever is aboard that week.

Yoga

Hatha, Vinyasa and Restorative, on the main deck at first light and on a beach in the late afternoon. Ask which certification your instructor holds and we will tell you.

Meditation

Guided mindfulness, loving-kindness and Vipassana, in sittings short enough to be useful to people who have never done one.

Breathwork

Guided breathwork built to steady the nervous system, with optional cold exposure on the longer charters.

Sound healing

Gongs, crystal bowls and Indonesian instruments, usually at dusk with the engines off and the boat at anchor.

How it works

From first message to the mooring at Labuan Bajo

Four steps, and nothing is charged until the third.

  1. 01

    Tell us who is coming

A short call covers dates, dive certification, injuries and what you want the week to do. Nothing is booked yet.

  2. 02

    We draft the week

Practice schedule, dive sites and trek days, built around the tides and the group. You get it in writing before paying anything.

  3. 03

    Fly to Labuan Bajo

Daily connections from Denpasar and Jakarta into Komodo Airport (LBJ). A private transfer meets you and runs you to the harbour.

  4. 04

    Board and cast off

Suites, dive gear fitting and the first briefing happen the same afternoon. The boat sails that evening.

Dive certification is not required. Non-divers snorkel the same sites, and the dive team runs discovery sessions for anyone who wants to start.
