Why a boat and not a resort
A resort in Komodo puts you an hour from the reef in each direction and gives you the same bay every morning. A liveaboard repositions overnight, so the practice, the dive and the trek all happen within a few hundred metres of the deck.
It also means the boat can be at Padar before the day boats have left Labuan Bajo, and still there after they have gone back. In July and August that is the whole difference between a good week and a crowded one.
The trade is real and we say so on the comparison page: no gym, no reliable wifi, and you feel the sea. If those matter more, a resort is the better booking.

Four things we hold to
Not values on a wall. These are checkable, and you should check them.
Published criteria
Boats are graded against five weighted criteria we publish, not against whoever is cheapest that month.
No invented credentials
If a qualification matters to a job we do, the issuing body is named. If we cannot name it, we do not claim it.
Corrections stand
When something on these pages turns out to be wrong, it gets fixed and the correction is logged rather than quietly overwritten.
What we are not
Three things worth being plain about.

Not a global operator
One park. If you want Raja Ampat or the Banda Sea, we are not the right desk.

Not a resort
No gym, no spa complex, no reliable connectivity. A treatment room and a clear deck is what there is.

Not a big-group trip
Twelve is the ceiling and it is not negotiable. Above that the facilitator is teaching to an average.
